The "Reset", a uniquely formulated plan of action to assist you in maintaining your sobriety.
Recovery is possible and you are not alone!

Hi, I'm Dru, a New York State Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC), Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) and Veterans Support Recovery Professional (VSR) working with a team of recovery coaches and clinicians focused on helping you maintain your recovery.

Recovery from alcohol and drug problems is a process of change through which an individual achieves abstinence and improved health, wellness and quality of life; as well as live a self-directed life and strive to reach their full potential. Recovery requires vigilance and we are here to assist you reach your recovery goals.

As a New York State Certified Addiction Recovery Coach, Recovery Peer Advocate and Veterans Support Recovery Professional, I am dedicated to helping you maintain your sobriety from alcohol or other substance use disorders.

Recovery from addiction is not only possible, it is the rule, rather than the exception. According to the latest U. S. National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than 75 percent of people addicted to alcohol or drugs recover—their condition improves, and substance use no longer dominates their life. That is not to say that recovery is easy. It is often a long and bumpy path, and relapse is nearly inevitable—but that doesn’t spell the end of recovery.

There are coping strategies to be learned and skills to outwit cravings and practicing them not only tames the impulse to resume substance use but also gives people pride and a positive new identity that hastens recovery.

Why work with a recovery coach?

Recovering from addiction begins with understanding the disease. The medical diagnosis for addiction is substance use disorder.  Substance use disorders are categorized as mild, moderate or severe based on the severity and quantity of a person’s symptoms.

Addiction causes physical changes in the brain. The changes make the brain crave addictive substances to feel pleasure and go into withdrawal when it doesn’t receive them. Withdrawal can cause physical pain, emotional distress and other unpleasant side effects. Over time, the changes in the brain make a person prioritize seeking addictive substances over other activities that used to cause pleasure. The disease is progressive and incurable, but recovery is very possible by undertaking a structured program.

Even after thirty days in residential rehab or a couple months in intensive outpatient treatment, most newly sober alcoholics and addicts still find it difficult to sustain their sobriety without help. A recovery coach can play a vital role in providing that help, creating a close relationship with the newly sober peer to guide them onto the path of long-term sobriety.

Empathy, experience and empowerment are essential qualities for a recovery coach to possess and are necessary qualifications for doing the job successfully. The recovery coach supports and guides an individual who has the desire to start or has already begun their journey to recovery.

Recovery vs Addiction

Recovery is a psychological journey. Positivity, commitment and hope increase the chances of sustained sobriety.

Recovery is for those who want and need it; not just for those who need it. And it starts with having a concrete plan of action and strong mental state ready to fight the enemy of addiction.

The enemy is the addiction! There are feelings, thoughts, attitudes and behaviors that support recovery. And there are feelings, thoughts, attitudes and behaviors which fuel addiction.

We can help you identify your triggers; and develop coping skills to combat urges and cravings.

Recovery Emerges from Hope

Recovering from addiction involves believing sobriety can be reached, cultivated and cemented as a way of life. To hope for sobriety is to understand it can be accomplished by anyone who embraces hope.

The structure of recovery consists of a program including a safety plan with warning signs, coping strategies for urges and craving, as well as contacts who support your recovery, people who you can ask for help and actions to make your environment safe.

We believe that everybody deserves a fresh start. Our Relapse Prevention Program offers a personalized plan to maintain your sobriety including daily or weekly in-person and or zoom video calls.

Recovery is worth it!

Recovery from addiction can be a challenging process as it takes constant patience and maintenance. Some experience addiction triggers, and even relapse.  Even if you fall off track and regret your mistakes, it doesn’t mean your journey is over.
