About me

My name is Dru and my goal is to help you achieve your recovery goals by any and all means necessary. I am a combat veteran who has served in two war zones in the Middle East. Additionally, I have served in some of the most difficult hot spots in the world, gaining a unique perspective on human nature.

I am a New York State Certified Addictions Recovery Coach (CARC-5216), Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA-5540), and Veterans Supported Recovery Professional (VSR-5005). I also have a B.A. in History/Liberal Arts and a Master of Arts degree in History. My approach is somewhat different as I look at recovery through the lens of combat. Separately, I am an ordained minister registered in both the states of New York and Virginia to perform ministerial duties.

In sum, recovery is the fight of, and the fight for your life!

I understand this fight on a personal level and have devised a program called the "Reset" which is uniquely designed for each of my recoverees using the military's "concept of operations" model.  A Concept of Operations is a military plan describing actions needed to be taken in the pursuit of a successful mission.

Working together, I will help you design a "concept of operations" laying out the goals and objectives; specific strategies and tactics to help you maintain your sobriety to include formulating a relapse prevention plan delving into triggers and adoption of healthy coping skills.

Let me help you "Stay on Mission" (your overall strategic goal) and "Stay on Task" (the daily tactical goal)! It's about maintaining focus and commitment; not letting the distractions, distract you. We must all actively participate in our own rescue. I can help you stay motivated!

To win in life and in recovery, you must have the right mindset. Let the "Reset" help you "course correct" and live your best life! Everything you need is already inside of you, let me help you achieve your recovery goals!

Recovery has many different pathways. Alcohol and substance use disorders are progressive and eventually fatal, but recovery is more than possible!  Addiction in Latin means slavery or bondage.

In combat, its vital to have proper planning, the right training/skills, guidance/direction, accountability and motivation to accomplish the mission at hand. Combat doesn't occur only during business hours and neither does recovery. I am available, if needed, 24 hour a day/7 days a week/365 days a year for my recoverees!

The goal isn't only to live alcohol and drug free but to live a self-directed life with purpose where any mood- or mind-altering chemical is no longer needed or required.  To live "joyous, happy and free", this is my goal for my recoverees.

I like to think of myself as Sherpa with a CRPA.  A Sherpa is a member of a Tibetan people living on the high southern slopes of the Himalayas in eastern Nepal and known for providing lifesaving guidance and support for foreign trekkers and mountain climbers. Let me be your Recovery Sherpa!
